Buying a Pre-Owned Rolex Day-Date in Dubai

The Rolex Day-Date was introduced in 1956 as the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. Worn by leaders around the world, it is famous for its President bracelet.

The Day-Date is made only in precious metals – yellow gold, white gold, Everose gold and platinum – in 36 and 40 mm. At Ilan Watches in the Dubai Gold District, every watch is inspected by our specialists before it is offered, and you are welcome to view it in our showroom before you decide.

Our 17 watches in stock currently range from AED 135,000 to AED 345,000. All prices include a full inspection by our specialists.

Rolex Day-Date Prices in Dubai

How much is a Rolex Day-Date in Dubai? The price of a pre-owned Day-Date depends above all on the size (36 or 40 mm), the precious metal, the dial and any diamonds, the generation and the condition. Instead of quoting general market figures, we show the real prices of the Day-Date watches we have in stock today.

What Makes One Day-Date More Expensive Than Another

  • Size. The Day-Date 40 and the Day-Date 36 are separate references. Compare the same size when you compare prices.
  • Metal. Every Day-Date is made in 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold, or in platinum. Platinum models are usually at the top of the range.
  • Dial. Stone dials such as onyx, ombré dials and diamond-set dials are rarer than standard dials and are priced accordingly.
  • Diamonds. A factory diamond-set bezel (references ending in RBR) or baguette hour markers add considerably to the price.
  • Generation, year and papers. Current references (228xxx, 128xxx) and older references (118xxx, 18xxx) trade at different levels; a recent watch with box and papers is valued higher.

For condition, papers and service history, see what to check when buying a used Day-Date below. For an overview of retail and pre-owned prices across all models, read our guide to Rolex prices in Dubai.

The Rolex Day-Date: Why It Was Created and What It Does

In 1956 Rolex introduced the Day-Date, the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. Because it was worn by so many presidents and leaders, it became known as the “President”.

The day and date both change instantly at midnight. The day can be displayed in more than 20 languages, including Arabic, English, French, German, Spanish and Russian. The Day-Date is made only in 18 ct gold or platinum, with the President bracelet designed for it.

Key Features

  • Movement. Calibre 3255 with about 70 hours of power reserve in the current models.
  • Calendar. Day spelled out in full at 12 o'clock in the language of your choice and date at 3 o'clock, both with instant change.
  • Water resistance. 100 metres, with a screw-down crown.
  • Materials. Yellow gold, white gold, Everose gold or platinum – never steel.
  • Bracelet. The President bracelet with semi-circular three-piece links and a concealed Crownclasp.

What to Check When Buying a Used Day-Date

  • Box, papers and warranty date. A full set with the warranty card adds value and shows the purchase date.
  • Case and bracelet condition. Look for sharp case edges and a tight bracelet. Heavy polishing reduces value.
  • Day and date change. The day and date should switch cleanly around midnight; the day can be shown in different languages depending on the dial.
  • Service history. Service papers from Rolex or a recognised watchmaker give extra confidence.

Rolex Day-Date: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Rolex Day-Date cost in Dubai?

Across all 17 pre-owned Day-Date watches currently in stock – the complete selection shown at the top of this page – prices range from AED 135,000 to AED 345,000. By metal: Yellow gold: AED 135,000 to AED 275,000; Everose gold: AED 145,000 to AED 285,000; White gold: AED 190,000 to AED 230,000; Platinum: AED 326,000 to AED 345,000. The price table above lists reference, size and price for most of these watches; every watch and its current price is shown in the overview at the top of the page.

Day-Date 36 or Day-Date 40 – what is the difference?

Both have the same day and date display and the same precious metals, and both are usually worn on the President bracelet. The Day-Date 40 has a 40 mm case and a stronger presence on the wrist; the Day-Date 36 is the original size and also suits smaller wrists. In our stock today, the Day-Date 36 costs AED 135,000 to AED 235,000 and the Day-Date 40 costs AED 185,000 to AED 345,000.

Are the prices in AED or USD?

All prices are set in UAE dirham (AED). You can switch the display to US dollars with the currency switch on the page.

Why is the Day-Date only made in gold and platinum?

Rolex has always positioned the Day-Date as its most prestigious model, so it is produced only in precious metals. This is also why it is known as the “President”.

Can I view the Day-Date before buying?

Yes. Viewings at our Dubai showroom in the Dubai Gold District are available by appointment. Please confirm availability before visiting, for example on WhatsApp. You can try on the watch and discuss it with our specialists over a coffee.
