No other Rolex comes in as many versions as the Datejust. Two watches that look similar at first glance can be worth very different amounts, so we always confirm the exact reference and configuration before we make an offer.
Datejust 31, 36 and 41 are separate references. Current models are valued differently from earlier generations, so the reference number on the papers or between the lugs matters.
A smooth steel bezel, a fluted gold bezel or a factory diamond bezel each changes the reference and the value. Diamonds added after leaving Rolex usually reduce it.
Oystersteel, steel with yellow, white or Everose gold, or full gold: the metal combination is one of the biggest factors in the offer.
Colour, index or Roman numerals and factory diamond dials all play a part. Popular dials such as the Wimbledon (slate with green Roman numerals), green or mint are especially in demand. An original dial is worth more than a refinished one.
The same Datejust can come on an Oyster or a Jubilee bracelet. We also check bracelet stretch, the clasp and whether all original links are included.
The warranty card, box and extra links, the year and the overall condition complete the picture. Original, unpolished case edges are valued higher. A sale is still possible without papers.
Rolex introduced the Datejust in 1945, with the date in a window at 3 o’clock, later magnified by the Cyclops lens. Since then it has been made in several generations. Knowing yours helps us give you an accurate offer.
