The Cosmograph Daytona has been made in steel, two-tone, three colours of gold and platinum, with many dial and bezel combinations. Two Daytonas that look alike can be worth very different amounts, so we always confirm the exact reference and configuration before we make an offer.
A current 4131 model, a 4130 model, a Zenith-era 16520 or a vintage piece are valued very differently. The reference on the papers or between the lugs tells us which one you have.
Oystersteel, steel and yellow gold, yellow, white or Everose gold, or platinum: the metal is one of the biggest factors in the offer.
Colour and layout matter, for example the white “Panda” dial with black counters or the black dial. Factory gem-set dials are valued separately. An original dial is worth more than a refinished one.
A black ceramic bezel, a metal bezel or a factory gem-set bezel each belongs to a different reference. We also check the bezel for chips, scratches and originality.
Oyster bracelet or Oysterflex strap: we check the condition, bracelet stretch, the clasp and whether all original links are included.
Warranty card and date, box, service history and the condition of the case and pushers complete the picture. Original, unpolished case edges are valued higher. A sale is still possible without papers.
Rolex introduced the Cosmograph Daytona in 1963 as a chronograph for racing drivers, with a tachymeter scale on the bezel. It has since been made in several generations. Knowing yours helps us give you an accurate offer.
